Overnight batters Mayank Agarwal and Kruthik Krishna’s resilience did not last long on the penultimate day. Kruthik fell after they were able to add just over 20 runs. Auqib Nabi did what he does best, and picked up yet another fifer, his seventh of the season, to bundle karnataka out for 293. J&K secured a crucial first innings lead of 291 runs.
In the second essay, J&K had a horror start as it lost opener Yawer Hassan and first innings centurion Shubham Pundir early before going for lunch. However, fellow opener Qamran Iqbal and Abdul Samad put on an important partnership that shifted the momentum back to the visitor.
It was all J&K after that as they piled on the runs. Iqbal is unbeaten at 94, while Sahil Lotra has 16 runs towards his name. J&K has a sizeable lead of 477 and looks set to clinch the title in it’s maiden final appearance!
