The Netherlands can seal their place at the 2026 World Cup by winning in Poland on Friday – but victory for the hosts would move them level with their opponents ahead of the final round of matches in Group G on Tuesday.
A draw would ensure Ronald Koeman’s side are all-but mathematically heading to the tournament in the US, Mexico and Canada next year because they will start with a 15-goal superioirty on the second-placed side.
The Netherlands are guaranteed a place in the play-offs if Poland overtake them during the final two matches, while Michal Probierz’s side are also in a strong position to finish second.

European World Cup 2026 qualifying path
The top team from each of the 12 European Qualifier groups proceeds automatically to the finals, which will be expanded to 48 teams.
The 12 runners-up in each group will join four Nations League teams in the play-offs, which will be drawn from pots based on teams’ records during the campaign. The games will comprise single-leg semi-finals and finals.
The draw for the World Cup finals will take place in December 2025. The tournament runs from June 11 until July 19 2026.
