Karnataka vs Jammu & Kashmir Ranji Trophy final LIVE score, Day 3 update: J&K 527/6 – Sahil, Mushtaq help the visitor dominate

Overnight batters Shubham Pundir and Abdul Samad started slow, finding the odd boundary and collecting singles and doubles. However, Vidyadhar Patil struck against the run of play to dismiss Pundir. Samad soon followed as Prasidh Krishna claimed his wicket with a peach of a delivery.

Suddenly, after being behind the eight ball for most of the first day, Karnataka managed to bounce back and did it early. However, captain Paras Dogra and Kanhaiya Wadhawan forged a 100-run stand to gain lost momentum. The duo frustrated the home side so much that a tussle broke out between Dogra and substitute fielder KV Aneesh, which eventually led to the former resorting to a headbutt.

Karnataka’s biggest issue was the sub-par fielding. Kruthik Krishna, who missed a stumping on day 1, missed yet another one on the second day; a couple of catches were dropped. You get the idea. Meanwhile, J&K’s biggest strength so far has been the running between the wickets. Pretty much everyone ran like their life depended on it. This has been reflected in the scoreboard. Despite losing wickets, the batters have managed to not stagnate the run flow through constantly finding singles and doubles, and sometimes triples.

The day came to a close with J&K managing to reach 527/6 at stumps.. early stumps, so to say. The play was suspended around 4PM due to bad light, and that, coupled with rain shortly after, meant the play had to be called off. All in all, it has been a brilliant couple of days for the first-time finalist, and it will hope to pile on more runs to make sure it has enough runs for the bowlers to defend and take the first innings lead.
