IPL 2026: Pat Cummins joins SRH squad in Bengaluru
Australian fast bowler Pat Cummins joined the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) training session at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Wednesday.
Cummins, who is battling fitness concerns, did not overtly exert himself. The 32-year-old did a light warm up, and took part in the fielding and catching drills. He went on to deliver a few deliveries with a shortened run up in an empty net.
While his teammates went full tilt in the nets, Cummins did a few sprints under the watchful eyes of head coach Daniel Vettori and his staff.
SRH is in the city ahead of the IPL 2026 opener against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on Saturday.
Given that full-time captain Cummins is likely to miss the first few games of the season, SRH appointed Ishan Kishan as the interim captain. Abhishek Sharma takes charge as the vice-captain.
Kishan missed the SRH practice session, as he is part of the pre-season IPL captain’s meeting in Mumbai.
Cummins last played in the third Ashes Test in December, and did not feature in Australia’s disastrous recent T20 World Cup campaign.
England all-rounder Liam Livingstone, signed for Rs. 13 crore at the auction, got into the groove with a net batting stint. Livingstone, who last played for England a year ago, is searching for form and runs.
South African Heinrich Klaasen struck the big blows, sending the bowlers to all parts.
