India U-19 beats Australia U-19 to sweep Youth Test series 2-0


India Under-19s defeated their Australian counterparts in the second Youth Test to sweep the two-match series 2-0 at the Great Barrier Reef Arena in Mackay on Wednesday.

It took India less than 13 overs to chase the 81-run target with seven wickets in hand. Vedant Trivedi, who top scored with an unbeaten 33, finished the game with a boundary.

Captain Ayush Mhatre (13) and, Vihan Malhotra (21), and Rahul Kumar (13 not out) contributed to the chase while Vaibhav Suryavanshi got a golden duck.

The visiting side had earlier bundled out the host for 116 after taking a 36-run lead in the first innings. Naman Pushpak and Henil Patel picked three wickets each. For the Australia U-19s, wicketkeeper Alex Lee Young top scored with 38.

It was a successful outing for India U-19s down under, winning all the five matches on tour, including three ODIs and the two Tests.

Trivedi was the top run getter for the visitor in both formats, scoring 173 runs in ODIs, and 198 runs in the red-ball games. Suryavanshi was the second highest with 133 runs in Tests and third best in one-day — 124 runs.
