IND vs WI, 2nd Test: Sai Sudharsan to not field after sustaining impact injury
B. Sai Sudharsan will not field for India on Day 3 of its Test match against West Indies in New Delhi after sustaining an impact injury on Day 2 of the match.
The left-hander sustained the injury while fielding at short leg in West Indies’ first innings. Opener John Campbell played a sweep shot against Ravindra Jadeja, which caught Sudharsan flush in the hand as he attempted to take cover.
Remarkably, the ball lodged in his hand, and he completed the catch to remove the batter. Sudharsan also scored 87 in India’s batting innings.
He was in immediate discomfort after the incident, leaving the field of play in some pain. Devdutt Padikkal took his place at short leg for the rest of the day.
According to a statement from the BCCI, Sudharsan will not take the field on Day 3 as a precautionary measure. He is currently being monitored by the BCCI medical team.
India is well-placed to seal a series victory against the tourists, leading by 378 runs heading into the third day’s play.
