IND vs SL: Abhishek Sharma levels Virat Kohli’s record of consecutive T20I fifties for India

Abhishek Sharma registered his third consecutive half-century in the Asia Cup 2025 during the final Super Fours encounter against Sri Lanka in Dubai on Friday.

The opening batter levelled Virat Kohli for the most consecutive T20I fifties by an Indian batter. Virat had scored three fifties on the trot against Sri Lanka, Afghanistan and New Zealand in 2012 and two more times in his career.

Former India captain Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul (twice), Suryakumar Yadav (twice) and Shreyas Iyer have also aggregated scores above fifty in three consecutive innings.

The Punjab all-rounder scored half-centuries in all three of India’s Super Four encounters in the Asia Cup and is the top run-getter so far in the continental tournament.
