ILT20 Final: Skipper Sam Curran powers Desert Vipers to maiden title

Desert Vipers rode on an unbeaten 74 from skipper Sam Curran to beat MI Emirates by 46 runs in the final in Dubai to claim its maiden ILT20 title.

This was third time lucky for the Vipers, who had lost in both their previous final appearances.

The Vipers’ innings was held together by Curran, who amassed his highest score in the ILT20 tournament. The English all-rounder put on a match-defining 89-run stand with compatriot Max Holden for the third wicket.

Vipers received a late push through a late blitz from Dan Lawrence, who scored 23 off 15 deliveries.

MI Emirates’ response never lifted off with Pakistani pacer Naseem Shah leading Vipers’ restrictive efforts with impressive figures of 3/18 from his four overs.

A late three-wicket burst from David Payne sealed the game for Vipers as MI Emirates was bowled out for just 136.
