Hetmyer hits 50 in 22 balls, the fastest by a West Indies batter in T20 World Cup

Shimron Hetmyer on Saturday hit 50 runs off just 22 balls against Scotland at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata, recording the fastest fifty by a West Indies batter in a T20 World Cup game.

Hetymer broke the 17-year-old record belonging to Chris Gayle, who had notched up a 23-ball half century against Australia during the 2009 World Cup.

The record for the quickest fifty in the T20 World Cup belongs to Yuvraj Singh, who had hit a 12-ball fifty against England in the inaugural edition in 2007.
