Derma Moon is Mind Your Biscuits’ First Winner
Derma Moon (JPN) became the first winner for Shadai Stallion Station’s Mind Your Biscuits , who was a multiple grade 1 winner in the United States and Dubai, after capturing a May 25 maiden special weight at Tokyo Racecourse.
Funny Hill Farm bred the bay 3-year-old colt out of the winning Screen Hero mare Derma Ararechan, who has produced two other winners so far. The immediate family traces back to American black-type winner Jasmina, who is a half sister to multiple group 1 winner and 1989 French highweight Polish Precedent.
Derma Moon was making his third career start for trainer Yuichi Shikato and owner Hiroyuki Asanuma. After stalking the pace in the early going of the 1,600-meter (about one mile) race on a sloppy main track, Derma Moon took command in mid-stretch and held off a blazing challenge from Hakushin Brian (JPN) to win by a head. The final time was 1:36.3.
Mind Your Biscuits is a 12-year-old son of Posse who won grade 1 stakes each year from 3 to 5. He won the 2016 Malibu Stakes (G1) at 3 and went on to win consecutive runnings of the 2017-18 Dubai Golden Shaheen (G1) at Meydan Racecourse. He also won the 2017 Belmont Sprint Championship Stakes (G2) and Lukas Classic Stakes (G3). He retired as the richest New York-bred racehorse with $4,279,566 in career earnings. He stands at Shadai for ¥3 million (approx.US$21,000).
