Carl Spackler Romps in Maker’s Mark Mile


Taking command on the second turn, Carl Spackler  opened up on the competition and cruised to a comfortable victory over Integration  in the $650,000 Maker’s Mark Mile Stakes (G1T) April 11 at Keeneland.

Trikari  ran third.

The heavily favored winner, making his first start as a 5-year-old, ran a mile on good turf in 1:36.56 under Flavien Prat. He paid $3.66 for a $2 win wager.

A chestnut son of Lope de Vega   out of the More Than Ready mare Zindaya , Carl Spackler races for the Bob Edwards-headed e Five Racing Thoroughbreds. Chad Brown trains the standout turf miler.
