India’s top doubles player Yuki Bhambri and his Kiwi partner Michael Venus continued their impressive run at the US Open, advancing to the third round of Men’s Doubles with a commanding victory.

The 14th-seeded Indo-Kiwi pair defeated the alternate team of Gonzalo Escobar (Ecuador) and Miguel Ángel Reyes-Varela (Mexico) 6-1, 7-5 in the second round. Bhambri and Venus dominated the opening set with aggressive returns and sharp net play, before showing grit in the second—saving two set points to clinch the match in straight sets.

The win sets up a tough third-round clash against the 4th-seeded German duo Kevin Krawietz and Tim Puetz, who bring Grand Slam-winning pedigree with three major doubles titles between them.

With growing momentum, Bhambri and Venus will be looking to carry their form into the next round and aim for a deep run in New York.
