Bangladesh decides against travelling to India for T20 World Cup 2026, hopes ICC will ‘provide justice’
The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) said that the team will not travel to India to participate in the T20 World Cup 2026, a day after the ICC announced that there will be no changes to the schedule of the tournament taking place in India and Sri Lanka from February 7, 2026.
The decision was taken during an ICC Board meeting, which was convened to discuss the way forward after the BCB wanted its matches be moved to Sri Lanka. The BCB said that there has been no change in the security risk of playing in India.
“[We] expect the ICC to provide justice by allowing us to play in Sri Lanka. If ICC fails to accommodate us, it will be significant loss to world cricket and failure for host country,” Bangladesh sports advisor Asif Nazrul said in a statement.
