AUS-W vs IND-W, 3rd T20I: India batters eye resurgence against Aussies to seal historic series win

India will need its batting line-up to fire collectively when it meets a charged Australian group in the third and final women’s T20I in Adelaide on Saturday.

The Women in Blue will be aware of the significance a series triumph Down Under holds, a feat they last achieved in 2016.

The second T20I in Canberra showcased the fighting spirit of the bowling attack once again, as the Aussies, who were cruising at 128 for no loss, were restricted to 163 for five.

But the Indian batting efforts were below par, which ended in a collapse in a relatively easy-looking chase.

While Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma got decent starts, they will need to stay longer and strengthen the innings, and hope for more support from the middle order.

Skipper Harmanpreet Kaur, Jemimah Rodrigues and Richa Ghosh love the ball coming onto the bat, and they can expect some assistance in Adelaide.

However, the smooth nature of the ground also puts an onus on Indian pacers—Renuka Singh, Arundhati Reddy, Kranti Gaud and Amanjot Kaur—to be steady in their lines.

The Indian pacers will have to stop the in-form Georgia Voll in her tracks, and the spinners—Deepti Sharma and Sree Charani—will need to chip in during the middle overs.

It is mandatory to keep the range-hitters Annabel Sutherland and Ashleigh Gardner and the innovative Phoebe Litchfield quiet post the Powerplay segment.
