AUS vs IND: When was the last time India and Australia met in T20Is?
India and Australia continue their preparations for the 2026 World Cup, facing off in a five-match T20I series beginning on Wednesday at Canberra.
The series will be the first time Suryakumar Yadav’s side has been in action since its Asia Cup victory at the end of September. Meanwhile, Australia’s last T20I assignment was a three-match T20I series against New Zealand at the start of October.

When was the last time Australia and India played a T20I?
The last time Australia and India played a T20I was during the Super Eight stage of the 2024 T20 World Cup at Gros Islet. After being sent in to bat, Rohit Sharma led the way with a blistering 92 as India plundered 205/5 from its 20 overs before Arshdeep Singh and Kuldeep Yadav helped India hold off Travis Head’s fightback to seal a 24-run win, and with it, a spot in the semifinals.
When was the last time Australia and India played a T20I series?
Australia and India last met in a T20I series at the end of 2023. In a series that began merely days after the ODI World Cup final, both sides named squads largely devoid of star names. The series was also Suryakumar Yadav’s first as India captain, albeit in a temporary capacity, while Ruturaj Gaikwad was vice-captain.
Coach Rahul Dravid was not involved in the series, with VVS Laxman taking charge instead.
India triumphed 4-1 in the series, conceding only the third match of the series in Guwahati. Gaikwad finished as the series’ top-scorer, with 223 runs, including a maiden T20I century. Ravi Bishnoi finished as the top wicket-taker in the series, taking nine across the series.
