Ashes 2025-26: Josh Hazlewood ruled out of first Test against England
Australian pacer Josh Hazlewood has been ruled out of the first Ashes Test against England, Cricket Australia (CA) said on Saturday.
On Wednesday, he left New South Wales’ Sheffield Shield match against Victoria at the Sydney Cricket Ground to have a hamstring niggle examined.

“Initial scans on Wednesday were clear of muscle strain however, follow-up imaging today has confirmed the injury,” CA said.
“As a result, Hazlewood will not travel to Perth and has been ruled out of the first Ashes Test match,” it added.
Hazlewood’s absence is a big blow for the Aussies, who are already without captain Pat Cummins for the first Test, scheduled to begin on November 21 in Perth.
Michael Neser has been brought into the first Test squad as cover for both Hazlewood and Sean Abbott, who also suffered a hamstring injury.
