Antoine Semenyo completes move to Manchester City from Bournemouth

Antoine Semenyo has reportedly completed his £65million to Manchester City from Bournemouth.

The winger has signed a five-and-a-half year deal with Pep Guardiola’s men, according to Sky Sports, with an official announcement expected on Friday.

Semenyo’s arrival takes City’s spending in the last 12 months to £425.9m on 14 players and is their first signing of the January window.

The Ghana international joined Bournemouth from Bristol City in 2023 and has since become one of the Premier League’s best attacking players, scoring 10 league goals so far this season for the Cherries.

The 26-year-old reportedly had interested from the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham but has opted to head to East Manchester.

He signed off his Bournemouth career in perfect style last night by scoring a 95th-minute winner to beat Tottenham 3-2 at the Vitality Stadium, with manager Andoni Iraloa admitting that it would be his final action for the South Coast club.

Championship club Bristol City are set to bank 20% of any profit made on Semenyo, having left to join Bournemouth in January 2023 for around £10m.

Semenyo’s departure means Bournemouth have earned £266.5m in player sales in the last six months following the significant departures of Dean Huijsen to Real Madrid (£50m), Milos Kerkez to Liverpool (£40m), Illia Zabarnyi to Paris Saint-Germain (£57m) and Dango Ouattara to Brentford (£42m).
