Americans Hit Show, Mixto Finish 1-2 in Dubai World Cup
Unleashing a furious rally down the stretch under Florent Geroux, Hit Show caught fellow American Mixto by a half-length in the $12 million Dubai World Cup (G1) at Meydan.
Japanese Star Forever Young settled for third.
Brad Cox trains the winner, a gray and/or roan 5-year-old son of Candy Ride for Wathnan Racing. Gary & Mary West Stables bred the horse in Kentucky, and the Wests initially campaigned him.
Hit Show ran 2,000 meters (about 1 1/4 miles) in 2:03.50. He paid $84.60 to win in an international pari-mutuel wagering pool.
This year, the Dubai World Cup was added to the Breeders’ Cup Challenge Series: Win and You’re In, providing its winner free, automatic entry into the $7 million Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1) taking place this fall for the second straight year at Del Mar.
