“Happy to Get the Win” — Aditya Vishal Balsekar on His Bengaluru Open Qualifying Run

After booking his place in the Bengaluru Challenger Main Draw as the lone Indian qualifier, Aditya Vishal Balsekar spoke to Deekshith from Indian Tennis Daily about the win, the surface switch from clay, and his journey so far.
Q: Congrats on your win! Thoughts on the match?
Aditya: I think today’s match was good, I played well. I was playing against a good friend of mine, so it was tough. Coming from a clay court tournament, adjusting again on hard court was a little tricky in the last match, but I think I adjusted well today and yeah, happy to get the win.
Q: Talking about the first match, you played an Indian, 18 years old. How was that experience?
Aditya: I think he’s a great player. It was his first time playing a Challenger, so I think it’s always a little tough. I would have felt the same in his position. But I think he’s got the potential and can do well going forward — just needs more experience. Wish him good luck for his future tournaments.
Q: This is your first year as a pro after finishing college in the US. Can you talk us through how the process has been and how it’s going?
Aditya: Yeah, so I finished college last year. It’s been good — it’s my first year, 2026, starting to travel and go on the pro circuit. I’m happy to be here and play at this wonderful event. Thanks to Tennis Karnataka for hosting this again — I played here in January too, in a 125 and got a wild card, and it’s been nice to be back. So yeah, thank you.
With a main draw spot secured and a calm head on his shoulders, Aditya Vishal Balsekar looks every bit ready for what comes next at the Karnataka Open.
