MI vs SRH, IPL 2026: Rohit, Rickelton crush Lucknow Super Giants to help Mumbai Indians stay alive
Half centuries from Rohit Sharma (84 off 44 balls) and Ryan Rickelton (83 off 32 balls) helped Mumbai Indians defeat Lucknow Super Giants by six wickets at the Wankhede Stadium on Monday in a much win contest for both sides.
LSG, batting first posted 228 on the board thanks to a whirlwind innings from Nicholas Pooran (63 off 21 balls) and a significant contribution from Mitchell Marsh (44 off 25 balls).
Despite having a challenging total ahead of them and needing a win to stay live, the home side showed no nerve nor restraint in the chase.
Rohit Sharma, who returned to the team after missing three weeks because of injury, showed no rustiness as he took down the LSG bowlers in the PowerPlay. Rickelton displayed the fluency he has shown on a number of occasions from the other end, targeting his preferred deep backward point region to canter maximums at will.

Rohit and Rickelton completing their centuries (the pair missed out by only 17 runs and 16 respectively) and batting to the end would have been the perfect icing on the cake but it was not meant to be, as both openers were dismissed in their 80s while trying to play attacking shots.
But by the time the pair was back in the dugout, there was very little left to do for the rest of the batting lineup. Naman Dhir and Suryakumar Yadav completed the formalities in the 19th over to cap off a memorable night for MI.
All hope’s not lost just yet, and today’s morale boosting victory will hold MI in good stead as it looks to finish its season on a high and wait on other results to go their way to sneak into the Playoffs. For LSG, today’s loss was its seventh defeat of the season, and their hopes of making the Playoffs are all but over.
