Bhosale & Raina Make Their Mark at ITF W75 Lopota With Doubles Final Run
Rutuja Bhosale and Ankita Raina arrived in Lopota, Georgia as top seeds, and they carried that billing with conviction — dropping just one set across three rounds to reach the final.
The opening round set the tone. Facing Israel’s Glushko and Latvia’s Vismane, the pair came up short in the first set 2-6 before regrouping sharply — taking the second 6-3 and sealing it in the match tiebreak 10-6.
From there, the partnership found its rhythm. Georgia’s Gorgodze and Kardava were dispatched 6-2 6-1 in the quarterfinals — a performance that left little room for debate.
The semifinal brought a different dynamic: compatriots Vasanti Shinde and Sahaja Yamalapalli stood across the net. Bhosale and Raina handled the occasion remarkably, winning 6-0 6-4 to set up a final against the second seeds.
Poland’s Kubka and Czech Republic’s Valdmannova had other ideas. The second seeds were sharp from the first game, taking the final 6-2 6-3 in a performance that gave Bhosale and Raina few opportunities to settle into their usual patterns.
A doubles runners-up finish at a W75 event — one of the stronger rungs on the ITF circuit — is a result worth taking forward. The pair showed through the week that their combination works, particularly when the match requires a shift in approach. The final scoreline was just one bump at the end of what was a well-constructed week. Bhosale and Raina leave Lopota with Finalist trophies and confidence in the partnership that proved its worth, with plenty to look forward to.
