CSK vs MI, IPL 2026: All-round Chennai Super Kings triumph over off-colour Mumbai Indians

Chennai Super Kings added to the woes of Mumbai Indians, cruising to a eight-wicket victory at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Saturday, leaving MI at the brink of elimination from IPL 2026.

Opting to bat first, MI faltered a good start largely due to Anshul Kamboj, Jamie Overton and Noor Ahmed who restricted the MI batters to an under-par total of 159. The lone bright spot in the Mumbai’s batting was Naman Dhir’s half century.

After losing Sanju Samson early, CSK didn’t put a foot wrong in the rest of the chase, making use of fifties from captain Ruturaj Gaikwad and Karthik Sharma, also getting sizable contribution from Urvil Patel to seal the win.

Ruturaj mixed caution with aggression, building a 98-run partnership with Karthik Sharma and getting to his second consecutive fifty, while Karthik showcased his array of strokes to score his maiden IPL half century.
