GT vs MI IPL 2026: Tilak’s maiden century helps Mumbai Indians snap four game losing streak
A maiden IPL century from Tilak Varma helped Mumbai Indians get back to winning ways against Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Monday.
It was a comprehensive victory for Mumbai Indians as it outplayed Gujarat Titans in all three departments, defeating the home side by a massive 99 runs.
Earlier in the day, GT captain Shubman Gill won the toss and chose to bowl first. GT rocked MI early in the first innings thanks to Kagiso Rabada’s triple strike in the PowerPlay to get rid of the visitor’s top order.
But Tilak Varma, who has not been amongst the runs, turned it on when his side needed it the most, smashing his first century in the IPL. Tilak struck eight fours and six sixes in his sensational unbeaten 101 of 45 balls- the joint fastest century by a batter for Mumbai Indians, along with Sanath Jayasuriya. MI posted a total of 199 on the board after its 20 overs.

In the chase, Jasprit Bumrah finally ended his wicketless streak by dismissing Sai Sudharsan in the first ball and Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler were back in the dug out by the end of the PowerPlay.
Thereafter, the home side did not put much of a fight as it folded for 100, its heaviest defeat in terms of runs.
