Maaya Rajeshwaran Reaches Landmark ITF Juniors Final in France
Indian tennis has a new star on the rise. Maaya Rajeshwaran Revathi has carved her name into the record books by becoming the first Indian girl in nearly a decade to reach a singles final at an ITF J300 event on European clay.
This milestone marks the first time an Indian girl has achieved the feat since Karman Kaur Thandi’s 2015 run in Offenbach.
The Road to the Final
Competing at the ITF J300 Beaulieu-sur-Mer in France, Maaya entered the tournament with momentum on her side. After reaching two semi-finals at the J300 level within the last month, she finally kicked the door down with a commanding performance in the Final Four.
Semi-Final Result:
- [SF] Maaya Rajeshwaran (IND) def. Nehira Sanon (FRA)
- Score: 6-3, 6-4
Despite the ranking gap between the two—with Maaya sitting at ITF Junior No. 47 and Sanon at No. 252—the victory was a display of poise and tactical dominance on the red dirt.
A High-Stakes Championship Match
The 16-year-old Maaya is now just one win away from the title. Standing in her way is 15-year-old Spanish prodigy Paola Pinora Celorio.
| Player | ITF Jr. Ranking | WTA Ranking |
|---|---|---|
| Maaya Rajeshwaran | 47 | 1059 |
| Paola Pinora Celorio | 34 | UNR |
The final is scheduled for tomorrow, where Maaya will look to turn this historic final appearance into a landmark championship win.
