Rohit Sharma retires hurt during Mumbai Indians vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru IPL 2026 match

Mumbai Indians opener Rohit Sharma had to retire out during his side’s IPL 2026 clash against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Wankhede on Sunday.

Rohit appeared to have hurt his hamstring while batting and had received his medical attention on the field in the sixth over of MI’s chase. The 38-year-old had his thigh strapped and attempted to continue batting.

But, his effort lasted just a delivery as he decided to retire hurt, while batting on 19 from 13 deliveries.

Mumbai Indians is chasing a mammoth 241-run target for a win against RCB as it looks to break a two-game losing streak.

Can Rohit Sharma return to bat for MI against RCB?

Rohit can return to bat for Mumbai Indians later on in the innings as he had retired hurt and not retired out.

According to MCC Law 25.4, a batter retiring due to injury, illness, or unavoidable cause is ‘Retired Not Out’ and can resume their innings after informing the umpires. They can return after a wicket falls or another batter retires.
