elcome to Sportstar’s live coverage of the IPL 2026 encounter between the Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad taking place in Kolkata on Thursday.

Both sides head into the encounter after demoralising losses in their previous encounter. After being put in to bat, the sides managed to post a 200-plus target only for their bowlers to come up short with the ball in the second innings.

The main talking point after KKR’s match against the Mumbai Indians was skipper Ajinkya Rahane’s post-match comments on why Cameron Green wasn’t utilised with the ball. Cricket Australia has since put out a statement that his bowling load is being monitored and he can bowl full tilt in 10-12 days. 

That forces an already injury-ravaged KKR to look elsewhere in its XI for a few overs, which explains the inclusion of a third spinner in Anukul Roy, who can also contribute with the bat and on the field with his gun fielding. 

Sunrisers had to make do without Pat Cummins and Brydon Carse, who are yet to return to full fitness, in its previous encounter. Debutant David Payne picked up two wickets but didn’t look half as threatening. The bowling needs some shoring up, but there aren’t really any standout options on the bench.
