RR vs CSK, IPL 2026: CSK names four debutants in its playing XI
Four players will make their debut for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in its game against the Rajasthan Royals, with CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad confirming that Sanju Samson, Kartik Sharma, Matt Henry and Matt Short will be part of the playing XI at the toss.
It was expected that Sanju Samson, Kartik Sharma, and Matt Henry would be making their debuts today but Matt Short’s inclusion was a result of the many injuries that has hit the CSK camp.
South African Dewald Brevis, who was set to bat anywhere between number 4 and 6 in the batting line-up, has been ruled out of today’s game with a side strain and Short will now take his place in the side against RR. The Australian also bowls a bit of off-spin, which strengthens CSK’s spin bowling attack.
Prashant Veer and Sarfaraz Khan have been named as an impact subs, and it remains unlikely that either of them will play unless CSK goes through a batting collapse.
