Who is Abhinandan Singh, RCB’s latest debutant in IPL 2026?
Abhinandan Singh made his debut for Royal Challengers Bengaluru in its IPL 2026 opener against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
Abhinandan is a fast bowler from Uttar Pradesh who was initially picked up by RCB in the 2025 mega-auction for Rs. 30 lakhs. He did not make an appearance for RCB last season, but was retained ahead of the 2026 season.
He was also a net bowler for the Kolkata Knight Riders in the 2024 season. He has also represented Lucknow Falcons in the UPT20 League, though he is yet to make his debut in domestic cricket.
Abhinandan was namechecked by RCB head coach Andy Flower ahead of the match as a player who could be in contention for a debut along with Mangesh Yadav.
The debutant has had a mixed game so far. While he has gone for more than 12 runs per over, Abhinandan managed to take the prized wicket of SRH’s stand-in captain Ishan Kishan, Sunrisers’ highest run-scorer today.
