IND vs NZ, T20 World Cup 2026 Final: Narendra Modi Stadium pitch report, weather, toss factor, stats, records
India will look to banish the ghosts of the past at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad when it takes on New Zealand in the final of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 on Sunday.
The defending champion was subjected to a six-wicket drubbing by Australia in the summit clash of the 2023 ODI World Cup, bringing to an end the dream of winning a World Cup on home soil.
India has another chance on Sunday to create history, but it will have to outplay the Kiwis, who put on a dominant performance in the semifinal against South Africa.
India has played two games at the venue this tournament. It completed a scratchy 13-win over the Netherlands in the group stage before being outplayed by South Africa in its Super Eight clash.
New Zealand, too, was handed a loss by the Proteas in its only prior game at the stadium this World Cup.

TOSS & PITCH FACTOR
The Narendra Modi Stadium has been a high-scoring venue with first-innings totals regularly crossing the 180-run mark. The 200-run barrier has been broken five times in 28 innings, four of which have been in the first innings of the game.
In this tournament, however, only one team has managed to score 200 — South Africa against Canada in its opening encounter. Since then, scores have hovered around the 170-180 run region.
Across all T20s, the side batting first has enjoyed an advantage at this stadium — winning 55 per cent of the 96 games played. In internationals the advantage increases gradually to 57 per cent.
In the ongoing World Cup, teams batting first have won four out of six encounters (South Africa beat Afghanistan after two Super Overs). Sportstar understands that Pitch No. 6 on the centre square has been shortlisted by the ICC and local curators for the summit clash.
South Africa scored 213/4 and defeated Canada by 57 runs in a night game played on this pitch. Opting to bat first in the final and exerting some scoreboard pressure might not be a bad idea at this ground.
