2026 L&T Mumbai Open: Main Draw Revealed as India’s Tennis Stars Prepare for Action

The stage is set for the fifth edition of the L&T Mumbai Open WTA 125K Series. On Saturday, January 31, the official Main Draw ceremony was held at the Maharashtra State Lawn Tennis Association (MSLTA), confirming the high-stakes matchups for the tournament scheduled from February 2 to 8, 2026.

With crucial ranking points and Asian Games selections on the line, the tournament remains a cornerstone of the Indian tennis calendar.

Indian Stars Take the Spotlight

The ceremony was graced by Indian Wild Card recipients Shrivalli Bhamidipaty, Maaya Rajeshwaran Revathi, and Vaishnavi Adkar, alongside doubles specialist Rutuja Bhosale. As the main draw begins this Monday, all eyes are on the local talent facing a formidable international field.

Key First-Round Matchups:

  • Sahaja Yamalapalli (India No. 1): Faces Japan’s Eri Shimizu.
  • Maaya Rajeshwaran Revathi (WC): Takes on Thailand’s Lanlana Tararudee.
  • Vaishnavi Adkar (Maharashtra No. 1): Battles Austria’s Lilli Tagger.
  • Vaidehee Chaudhari (WC): Faces a tough test against third seed Leolia Jeanjean (France).
  • Shrivalli Bhamidipaty (WC): Set to play a qualifier.

Focus on Growth: Maaya Rajeshwaran Revathi

Last year’s semifinalist, Maaya Rajeshwaran Revathi, returns to Mumbai with a grounded perspective. Despite her previous success, the young star is focusing on long-term development.

“I’m still young and still developing physically and mentally,” Revathi shared. “For me, it’s about getting better every day, staying fit, being injury-free, and just doing my best.”

A Crucial Year for Indian Tennis

MSLTA Honorary Secretary Sunder Iyer emphasized that the 2026 edition carries extra weight due to the upcoming Asian Games. The tournament serves as a primary scouting ground for the national team selection.

“The ranking points earned here remain with the players for the full year,” Iyer noted. “This event helps us identify players we should be looking at for future international tournaments.”

The MSLTA facility has been transformed into a world-class stadium to host the event, taking advantage of Mumbai’s peak February weather to provide optimal conditions for the athletes.
