Padma Awards 2026: Rohit Sharma, Harmanpreet Kaur conferred with Padma Shri awards
Rohit Sharma and Harmanpreet Kaur are among the eight former and current sportspersons to be named in the Padma Awards honour roll for 2026.
Apart from the two, tennis legend Vijay Amritraj is set to receive a Padma Bhushan, while indian women’s hockey goalkeeper Savita Punia, Baldev Singh, Bhagwandas Raikwar, K Pajanivel, and Praveen Kumar will all be given Padma Shris. Meanwhile, deceased Georgian wrestling coach Vladimir Mestvirishvili will receive the Padma Shri posthumously.
For the year 2026, President Droupadi Murmu has approved the conferment of 131 Padma Awards, including 2 duo cases (in a duo case, the Award is counted as one).
The list comprises 5 Padma Vibhushan, 13 Padma Bhushan and 113 Padma Shri Awards. 19 of the awardees are women, and the list also includes six persons from the category of Foreigners / NRI / PIO / OCI and 16 Posthumous awardees.
