Unsold last year, Sarfaraz Khan and Prithvi Shaw back for IPL 2026 Auction

Sarfaraz Khan and Prithvi Shaw, two of the more talked-about names to go unsold in last year’s full auction, have been included in the first set of players for the Indian Premier League (IPL) auction ahead of the 2026 season. The auction will be held in Abu Dhabi on December 16.

Sarfaraz, who featured in India’s Test setup earlier this year, found no takers in the previous full auction. Shaw, meanwhile, was dropped by Mumbai midway through the domestic season and subsequently passed over by IPL franchises. Since then, he has moved to Maharashtra, where he has shown improved consistency and fitness.

Both Sarfaraz and Shaw are listed in the opening set of capped batters with a base price of Rs. 75 lakh. They are grouped alongside Devon Conway, Jake Fraser-McGurk, Cameron Green and David Miller, all of whom carry a base price of Rs. 2 crore. Notably, Green has been listed only as a batter for this auction.

The final auction list was released by the IPL authorities on Tuesday, a week before the auction. The pool comprises 350 players, including 112 Indians and 238 overseas cricketers, with a maximum of 77 slots available.

The second set features Venkatesh Iyer, who has a base price of Rs. 2 crore after being released by Kolkata Knight Riders, along with Deepak Hooda (Rs. 75 lakh) and five overseas allrounders.

Among the 350 players, 40 have opted for the highest base price bracket of Rs. 2 crore, while 227 uncapped domestic cricketers have entered at the lowest base price of Rs. 30 lakh.
