SMAT 2025-26 Super League: Format explained, groups, schedule, fixtures list
The Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy will roll out a new format following the group stage in the 2025-26 edition instead of the traditional knockout rounds.
The group stage in the 32-team Elite tournament was concluded on Monday, and the top eight teams advancing to the Super League stage were confirmed. All matches in the Super League will be played in Pune.
Here is how the competition will be played from the next round:
Format
The top two from each of the four Elite Groups will qualify for the Super League stage. These eight teams will then be divided into two groups of four each. Every team will play three matches in the Super League stage.
How will the teams be divided into groups in Super League stage?
The division of the two Super League groups was predetermined by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) as follows:
- Super League Group 1: A1, B1, C2, D2 (Mumbai, Hyderabad, Haryana, Rajasthan)
- Super League Group 2: C1, D1, A2, B2 (Punjab, Jharkhand, Andhra, Madhya Pradesh)
The winner of each group will play for the title in the final on December 18 at the MCA Stadium in Pune.
