SMAT 2025-26: Arjun Tendulkar’s all-round efforts help Goa beat Madhya Pradesh

Arjun Tendulkar’s all-round efforts helped Goa beat Madhya Pradesh in a group-stage match of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in Kolkata on Tuesday.

The 24-year-old picked up three wickets (3/36) and scored a 10-ball 16 in his side’s seven-wicket victory.

Tendulkar was instrumental with the new ball, picking two early scalps in the PowerPlay, with MP soon reeling at 10 for three. His third wicket was the dangerous Venkatesh Iyer, who only had a brief stay in the middle, departing for a 13-ball six.

Tendulkar also took a catch off V Koushik’s bowling to remove skipper Rajat Patidar, who had rescued MP’s innings with a crucial 73-run fourth-wicket stand with Harpreet Singh Bhatia.

Needing 171 to win, Tendulkar opened the chase with Ishaan Gadekar, but was dismissed for a 10-ball 16, which included three fours. Captain Suyansh Prabhudessai led the way with a 50-ball 75 to take Goa over the line in 18.3 overs.

This was Goa’s second win in the ongoing SMAT season, having beaten Chandigarh by 52 runs earlier. Tendulkar took three wickets and scored 14 in that game.
