Ashes 2025-26: Mark Wood ruled out of second Test
England pacer Mark Wood is set to be ruled out of the second Ashes Test against Australia in Brisbane after reportedly suffering a knee injury in the series opener.
Wood did not train on Saturday as the side began preparations for the day-night Test at the Gabba. The same injury had kept the express pacer out of England’s home series against India earlier this year.
The 35-year-old bowled just 11 overs in the opening encounter and could not pick a wicket.
Josh Tongue is likely to replace Wood in the lineup, which featured three other pacers, Jofra Archer, Brydon Carse, and Gus Atkinson. England had lost the first Test in Perth by eight wickets.
