KSCA presidential candidate K.N. Shanth Kumar promises to make Chinnaswamy Stadium safer if elected
K.N. Shanth Kumar, who is contesting for the post of Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA) President, stated that fans who flock to the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium deserve a better experience.
“If elected, we want to make it a safe and better experience for fans who come to watch matches at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. We will work hard to give them a high level of satisfaction,” Shanth, the Director of The Printers (Mysore) Pvt. Limited, said in a press conference in Bengaluru on Friday.
Shanth Kumar is part of ‘Team Brijesh’, backed by former India cricketer and administrator Brijesh Patel. Shanth will compete against former India cricketer Venkatesh Prasad for the President post.
Brijesh explained that plans are afoot to ensure that the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium meets all safety regulations. The iconic stadium has not hosted an international match since the deadly stampede during RCB’s 2025 IPL victory celebrations.

“The stampede was tragic. The government has suggested we make changes in the entry and exit areas. Our designs for the same are ready. I am sure that the government will give us permission to host matches once the work is done,” Brijesh said.
Former Bangalore Turf Club Chairman Vinod Sivappa (for Vice President), former KSCA Treasurer E.S. Jairam (for Secretary), KSCA Managing Committee Member M.S. Vinay (for Treasurer) and former KSCA Assistant. Secretary B.K. Ravi (for Joint Secretary) will stand for elections as part of ‘Team Brijesh’.
In a related development, the KSCA elections are set to be held on December 7. This came as a result of the Karnataka High Court quashing a notice issued by the KSCA Electoral Officer postponing the elections.
