Bangladesh and Ireland will lock horns in a two-match Test series, starting on Tuesday at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium, Academy Ground.
Though the series isn’t a part of the World Test Championship (WTC), it will provide both teams with much-needed gametime in the longest format. Bangladesh has played four Tests so far this year—it drew a two-match series against Zimbabwe 1-1 before losing to Sri Lanka 0-1.
Meanwhile, Ireland beat Zimbabwe by 63 runs in the only Test it has played so far this year, back in February.
Bangladesh and Ireland have faced off only once before in Test cricket, with the former winning that contest by seven wickets in Mirpur in 2023.
