Rohit Sharma trains in Mumbai ahead of South Africa ODI series
India batter Rohit Sharma turned up for training at the MCA-BKC ground on Saturday in preparation for the upcoming ODI series against South Africa.
Rohit had quick chats with some of the Mumbai cricketers, who were bowling in the nets, and also exchanged pleasantries with his old friends Dhawal Kulkarni and Atul Ranade.
As the shutterbugs and curious fans clicked pictures, Rohit spent about thirty minutes in sprints and some light training. However, he did not bat in the nets.
Rohit recently featured in the ODI series against Australia and scored a century in the final game. Having retired from Tests and T20Is, Rohit now only features in ODIs, and as he hopes to continue till the 2027 ODI World Cup, it needs to be seen whether Rohit makes himself available for Mumbai in the Vijay Hazare Trophy next month.
Rohit’s last appearance for Mumbai was in a Ranji Trophy fixture against Jammu and Kashmir last year. Earlier this year, he guided India to a Champions Trophy win.
While there are speculations that Rohit and Virat Kohli might not fit into the scheme of things for the 2027 World Cup, the chairman of the selection committee, Ajit Agarkar, had made it clear that it would be unfair to put the duo on trial regularly.
India will face South Africa in a three-match series, with the first clash set to take place on November 30 at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi.
