India’s ODI Women’s World Cup-winning team will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi on Wednesday, November 5. Led by Harmanpreet Kaur, India scripted history by defeating South Africa in the final to win its first World Cup, capping a stunning comeback after three early losses.

Sportstar understands that the Prime Minister’s Office sent a formal invitation to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Monday. The players, currently in Mumbai, are expected to travel to the national capital by Tuesday evening and will disperse for their respective homes after meeting the Prime Minister.

While no victory celebration has been planned yet, the BCCI has decided to reward Rs 51 crore to the women’s team as a token of appreciation for winning its first-ever ICC title. The reward will be shared between players, support staff and the national selection committee.

While the exact break-up is not clear, it is believed that the players and the head coach will receive around Rs 2.5 to Rs 3 crore, while the assistant coaches and the support staff would receive around Rs. 25 to Rs. 30 lakh.
