IND vs SA: When was the last time India played a Women’s ODI World Cup final?


India and South Africa will vie for their first Women’s ODI World Cup title when they clash in the final of the 2025 edition at the D.Y. Patil Stadium in Navi Mumbai on Sunday.

Harmanpreet Kaur and Co. completed a record run-chase to beat the tournament favourite Australia in the second semifinal held at the same venue.

South Africa, on the other hand, avenged its damning loss to England in the opening match by strolling to a 125-run victory against the four-time champion.

When did India last participate in the Women’s World Cup final?

India last featured in a Women’s ODI World Cup final in 2017, after a 36-run semifinal win over Australia powered by Harmanpreet Kaur’s 171, setting up a title clash against England at Lord’s.

After electing to bat, Nat Sciver-Brunt’s half-century and contributions from Sarah Taylor (45) and Katherine Sciver-Brunt (34) helped England to 228 for seven. Jhulan Goswami was the pick of the Indian bowlers with three wickets.

In reply, Punam Raut’s fighting 86 and Harmanpreet’s fifty took India close before Anya Shrubsole ran through the lower order to bowl India out for 219, just nine runs short of victory.

India also made the final in 2005, under the captaincy of Mithali Raj. Karen Rolton’s hundred and an Indian top-order collapse helped Australia win by 98 runs.
