Maharashtra beats Madhya Pradesh to win maiden Senior Women’s T20 Trophy
Maharashtra clinched its maiden Senior Women’s T20 Trophy title with a 12-run win over Madhya Pradesh in the 2025 final at the Lalbhai Contractor Stadium in Surat on Friday.
Key contributions from Gautami Naik, Tejal Hasabnis, and Shweta Mane with the bat, along with a three-wicket haul from Ishita Khale, powered Maharashtra to victory in its sixth final appearance.
The team had previously finished runner-up in the 2009-10, 2014-15, 2015-16, 2017-18, and 2021-22 editions.
In a rain-curtailed final reduced to 14 overs a side, Maharashtra posted 102 for nine, with Shuchi Upadhyay claiming four wickets in three overs for Madhya Pradesh.
In response, Madhya Pradesh openers Jincy George and Anushka Sharma were the only batters to cross 20, before the side suffered a dramatic collapse, losing five wickets for just 16 runs. The slide began in the 12th over when Ishita dismissed Soumya Tiwari (17) and Nikita Singh off consecutive deliveries, eventually restricting MP to 90 for nine.
India international Tejal, who top-scored with 30 off 24 balls, was named Player of the Match, while Madhya Pradesh’s left-arm spinner Vaishnavi Sharma — the tournament’s leading wicket-taker with 21 scalps — was named Player of the Series.
