What happened in the last time India vs England match in Women’s ODI World Cup?

India plays England with plans of jumpstarting its Women’s ODI World Cup 2025 campaign on Sunday after consecutive losses in the tournament.

The last time these two sides met in a World Cup was in the 2022 edition hosted by New Zealand. That match saw the English emerge as the winners by four wickets, and with 112 balls remaining.

Spinner Charlie Dean was the chief tormentor of India’s batting line-up after her four-wicket haul helped bundle out the Women in Blue for 134 in 36.2 overs. Only Smriti Mandhana and Richa Ghosh could cross the 30-run mark.

Defending a meagre total, India began on a strong note with Jhulan Goswami and Meghna Singh (three for 26 in 7.2 overs) removing both the England openers within the first three overs of the PowerPlay. But an unbeaten half-century from Heather Knight and a steady 46-ball 45 from Nat Sciver-Brunt took the game away in no time from the Indians.

The last time India and England played each other in a women’s ODI was earlier this year during India’s tour of England. The visitor posted 318 on the board, largely thanks to Harmanpreet Kaur’s century, before young pacer Kranti Gaud’s six-wicket haul helped India bowl out the host for 305 with a ball to spare.
