Ranji Trophy 2025-26: Rajat Patidar scores maiden FC double hundred during Madhya Pradesh vs Punjab

Madhya Pradesh captain Rajat Patidar scored his maiden First Class double hundred, during his side’s Ranji Trophy 2025-26 match against Punjab in Indore on Friday.

Patidar, who was recently appointed MP’s all-former skipper, reached the landmark figure off the 328th ball of his innings. With this, he bettered his best previous best First Class score – a 196 he scored against Tamil Nadu in the 2018 Ranji season.

The 32-year-old batter walked in to bat at No.5, with his side reeling at 155 for four, in response to Punjab’s first-innings total of 232.

Patidar joined forces with Venkatesh Iyer to steady the innings, adding a crucial century stand to pull the host out of trouble and gain the first-innings lead.

The double ton marked a continuation of Patidar’s incredible run in 2025. Earlier this year, he had led Royal Challengers Bengaluru to its first IPL title and then followed it up by captaining Central Zone to its first Duleep Trophy win in a decade.
