Sarfaraz Khan falls for duck while opening for Mumbai vs J&K in Ranji Trophy
Mumbai batter Sarfaraz Khan’s comeback to First-Class cricket proved short-lived as he was dismissed for a duck on the opening morning of the Ranji Trophy 2025-26 season in Srinagar on Wednesday. Returning from a quadriceps injury, Sarfaraz was thrust into an unfamiliar role at the top of the order but lasted just three deliveries before edging Auqib Nabi back to the keeper.
Nabi, Jammu and Kashmir’s spearhead who enjoyed a prolific 2024-25 campaign, struck in his first over to give the home side an early breakthrough. His sharp movement off the surface tested both openers, as Mumbai looked tentative in chilly morning conditions at the Sher-i-Kashmir Stadium.
At 14 for one, the visitor was still feeling its way into the contest.
For Sarfaraz, who last played red-ball cricket over 10 months ago, the outing was meant to mark a fresh start after injury and form setbacks.
