Ted Noffey Dazzles in Breeders’ Futurity Victory
The considerable talent Ted Noffey displayed at Saratoga Race Course this summer arrived Oct. 4 at Keeneland.
A Spendthrift Farm-owned son of multiple leading sire Into Mischief , Ted Noffey landed his second straight grade 1 victory Saturday after he tracked West Coast shipper Litmus Test in the backstretch, moved to the lead in the far turn, and drew off in the stretch to win the $650,000 Breeders’ Futurity (G1) by about 3 lengths at Keeneland. Ted Noffey completed the 1 1/16-mile test for 2-year-olds in 1:43.99 on a fast track.
It’s the second straight grade 1 score for Ted Noffey, who won the Hopeful Stakes (G1) Sept. 1 at Saratoga, where he also earned a victory in his maiden debut.
Blackout Time finished second and Litmus Test held third. Each of those runners earned their initial grade 1 placing.
Ted Noffey was guided to victory by John Velazquez and he’s trained by Todd Pletcher. He was bred in Kentucky by Aaron and Marie Jones.
The Breeders’ Futurity is a Breeders’ Cup Challenge Series: Win and You’re In race, awarding a fees-paid berth in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1). As part of the Road to the Kentucky Derby, it also awards qualifying points to the 2026 Kentucky Derby (G1) on a 10-5-3-2-1 scale to the top five finishers.
