India squad for Australia ODI series: Full list of players
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Saturday announced the squad for a three-match One-Day International series against Australia, which begins on October 19.
Shubman Gill was named captain, replacing Rohit Sharma at the helm of the ODI side, while Shreyas Iyer was appointed his deputy. Both Rohit and Virat Kohli, who retired from Tests earlier this year, have been named in the squad.
In the injury-induced absence of Rishabh Pant, Dhruv Jurel received his maiden ODI call-up and will be the backup wicketkeeper to KL Rahul.

All-rounder Hardik Pandya and pace ace Jasprit Bumrah were rested for the ODIs, while Mohammed Siraj made a comeback after being dropped for the ICC Champions Trophy earlier this year. Siraj will spearhead the pace department, which includes Arshdeep Singh, Prasidh Krishna, and Harshit Rana.
The series down under will be the Men in Blue’s first ODI assignment since their ICC Champions Trophy triumph in March this year. The series opener will be played in Perth, before Adelaide and Sydney play host on October 23 and 25, respectively.
Axar Patel, Washington Sundar and Nitish Kumar Reddy were picked as all-round options, while veteran Ravindra Jadeja was overlooked.
On the spin-bowling front, Kuldeep Yadav was the only specialist tweaker in the squad, with Varun Chakaravarthy missing out on a spot owing to seam-friendly conditions in Australia.
