Zeitlos Back Again in Thoroughbred Club of America

Zeitlos , last year’s winner of the Thoroughbred Club of America Stakes (G2), will look to add a repeat victory in the 6-furlong race when she faces a field of six talented fillies and mares Oct. 4 at Keeneland. The race is a Breeders’ Cup Challenge Series event, which gives the winner an automatic berth to the Breeders’ Cup Filly and Mare Sprint (G1) Nov. 1 at Del Mar.

One of those contenders Zeitlos will face is grade 1 winner Vahva , who has earned more than $2 million during her illustrious career. The Cherie DeVaux trainee comes into the race off a second-place finish in the Misty Bennett Pink Ribbon Stakes Aug. 22. It was announced earlier in the week the 5-year-old daughter of Gun Runner   will sell at the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale Nov. 4.

Trained by Steve Asmussen for Stonestreet Stables and Peter Leidel, Zeitlos has been winless in her last three starts—most recently fifth in the Ladies Turf Sprint Stakes (G2T) at Kentucky Downs. Prior to that, she finished a half-length behind Future Is Now  in the Caress Stakes (G3) at Saratoga Race Course

Last year’s Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) runner-up Vodka With a Twist  will be in search of her first graded stakes win once again, following a troubled second in the Charles Town Oaks (G2) Aug. 22. The filly by Thousand Words   has only finished off the board twice in her 11 career starts, and has earned $865,350.

Honorable Miss Stakes (G2) winner Halina’s Forte , Prioress Stakes (G3) winner Praying , Long Neck Paula , and Taxed  round out the field.
