Women’s ODI World Cup: Bangladesh coach suffers stroke; captain Nigar Sultana provides update
Bangladesh women’s head coach Sarwar Imran suffered a stroke ahead of the side’s World Cup opener against Pakistan in Colombo.
Captain Nigar Sultana Joty confirmed the coach is recovering and in good spirits.
“We went to see him yesterday and he spoke to us all. He is doing better,” she told reporters here.
Bangladesh’s media manager SM Goolam Faiyaz revealed Imran, who was hospitalised on Monday, is stable and in high spirits and was adamant on attending match day eve training to be with the players ahead of the important fixture.
The 66-year-old took on the role of head coach with the senior women’s side, succeeding former Sri Lankan captain Hashan Tillakaratne.
