No Anderson or Tendulkar at England vs India trophy presentation

Sachin Tendulkar and James Anderson — the two icons after whom India’s tour of England is named — weren’t present at the Oval during the trophy presentation.

The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) remained mum on the issue.

Ben Stokes and Shubman Gill posed with the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy after the five-match Test series ended as 2-2 draw on Monday.

Before the series got underway, the ECB had decided to retire the Pataudi Trophy and rename the trophy after two modern-day legends. India won the Pataudi Trophy only once — in 2007 — when Mansur Ali Khan Pataudi presented it to the then captain Rahul Dravid.

Both Anderson and Tendulkar, however, were present during the trophy launch in June.
