Most wickets in IPL: Bhuvneshwar Kumar becomes second-highest wicket taker in Indian Premier League history
Royal Challengers Bengaluru pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar on Sunday became the second-highest wicket taker in Indian Premier League (IPL) history.
Bhuvneshwar picked three wickets against Delhi Capitals to take his tally to 193 in 185 innings. He overtook Piyush Chawla, who ended his IPL career with 192 wickets from 191 innings. Yuzvendra Chahal sits in first place, with 214 wickets from 167 innings.
The 35-year-old Bhuvneshwar has picked 12 wickets for RCB. He played for Sunrisers Hyderabad before this season, and picked 157 wickets for the side. He also played two seasons for Pune Warriors India, picking 24 wickets in 31 appearances.
He also won the Purple Cap twice – during the 2016 and 2017 seasons – and is among only three players to achieve the feat twice. Dwayne Bravo and Harshal Patel are the two other players who have clinched the Purple Cap twice.
